In June, 2007, Major Malik Hasan (then Captain) gave a briefing to his psychiatric resident peers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. The Washington Post has the full story, and included an inset with the 50 page Power Point presentation. Hasan's thesis was that Muslims serving in the United States military suffer from conflicting alliances when engaged in "overseas contingency operations," formerly known as the Global War on Terror.
During his tour of duty at Walter Reed, Hasan's superiors expressed concerns of his "overzealous views and religious behavior" prior to his assignment transfer to Fort Hood. NPR reports from a former Hasan colleague that" Everybody felt that if you were deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan, you would not want Nidal Hasan in your foxhole."
The last three slides are the most telling.
