This is the third of installment of a three-part series on Traditional-Americans, people who are suffering a sense of loss for their once-exceptional nation.

For more than a century the United States has enjoyed a higher living standard than most other countries.  We consume larger portions of the world's resources and we do so without apology. We consume more because we produce more, and we produce more efficiently than many of our competitors in the world.  We believe in upward mobility, not in the government tearing down everyone to a lower than average income level.

We have learned the word "diversity" is actually a code word for segregation, and places group preferences over individual rights.  This subverts the values of our founders.

While we acknowledge that many of our founders were guilty of many transgressions, did not recognize rights to blacks, and women, and some owned slaves.  But we also believe that the values of our founders still apply, that our founders' transgressions are no reason to abandon these values in favor for values espoused by Karl Marx and Frederich Engels.

Traditional-Americans understand the the difference between culture and race, and between behavior and race.  We believe that illegal immigration is a controllable behavior, and is in no way racially related. We understand that people who intentionally cross our borders ought to face the consequences of their behavior.  The consequences of their behavior is that we simply do nothing, and we owe nothing to them except the right to a fair hearing.  Illegals may remain in this country as long as they want, but might exist without the rights of legal residents, such as access rights to nondiscriminatory employment, to government benefits, to the drivers licenses, bank accounts, skilled licensure, union membership, or the rights to own property.

The United States has the most liberal immigration laws in the Western world. Anything Traditional-Americans offer beyond that, such as amnesty, work permits, or a path legalization or even to citizenship, we offer because we are a kind and benevolent people. For example, compare United States' immigration law to that of Mexico.

Traditional-Americans do not represent the fringe; we are main stream.  We are distraught over the deliberate devaluation of American citizenship.  We fly the American flag with pride on our front porch because we do not believe it is a symbolism of oppression and imperialism.

Fiercely nationalistic, we oppose ceding American sovereignty, or any notion of global governance. Further, we object to global tax schemes designed to confiscate our hard earned dollars and redistribute them our toward corrupt regimes of the Third World. (cap and trade citation)

While we care deeply about our environment, we object to government mandates that dictate which lightbulbs we must purchase, and requires our thermostat to be wired to the Environmental Protection Agency only to be controlled by a government bureacrat.

We want affordable, quality health care, but we resent being told which health insurance we must have, or even that we must buy it at all. We understand that government regulations are choking American prosperity, and depleting America's wealth while eroding the middle class.  While we have enjoyed increased equity in our property values, we also understand that inflation is a tax on our fixed incomes.  We know that inflation benefits people of the government class, and Wall Street financiers.

We understand that the world is growing ever-more dangerous. They know that a nuclear Iran is perilously dangerous to America, and are frustrated by a Commander in Chief who stands idly by, almost cheering Iran's nuclear pursuits.

Finally, we are frustrated by a government that grants citizens’ rights to international terrorists. These are terrorists who threaten the lives of American citizens, whom we capture on the battlefield. We cannot comprehend the objection by groups like the ACLU who campaign against trying these combatants in military tribunals.

The gradual, unrelenting erosion of our culture started in the Sixties with the counter culture. For decades we slept, tending to our careers and raising our children, while the wolf was at the door, plotting to undermine America’s prosperity and our way of life. They attended their meetings, became involved in grassroots community activism, and we never paid attention.

Now Traditional-Americans have awakened. We stand at the precipice, and we fear it might be too late.
